USMNT update

So the USMNT palyed in the Gold Cup. They went undefeated in their group matches like they always do. The Group games are now a warm up for the knock out round in this expanded tournament.

In the Knockout rounds:
They ran into Curacao who had a lot  of  Dutch lower division players on their team. Curacao played a very sound game that the USA did not adjust to tactically, The USA had the better players but this did not show on the field. The USA did win 1-0 and then the beat a tired and overmatch Jamaica team 3-1 to reach the final for the 11th time.

The USMNT then face their old nemesis Mexico. Mexico again beat the USA in the final this time  in the windy City of Chicago. That makes 8 Gold Cups for Mexico and 6 for the USA. Mexico were lucky to reach the final squeeking by Costa Rica and Haiti but again the Aztecs beat my Yanks.

It seems to me there were a number of starters that were out for my Yanks. Starting with these players.

  1. Tyler Adams
  2. John Brooks
  3. Deandre Yedlin
  4. Sebastin Lietget
  5. Bobby Wood
I beive these players would have been starters.--But MExico had as many stars not participating. Overall these games had great anticipation but lacked the drama and excitement when they were on the field.

Nations League:
The next tournament is the Nations League and the US has to get by both Canada and Cuba to reeach the final 4. Hopefully the US put their cohesion togather and we will ahve something nice to look at on the field.

The best excitement we will get will come from the Bundisleagia and watch the young POTENTIAL stars emerge or fade.
