CONCACAF U-20 Championship Nov 1 -21st

CONCACAF is finally doing something right for the majority of teams. They have expanded the Championship to 34 teams. This will develope many more nations and a chance for them to raise their profile. This new, gigantic tournamnet will take place in the former USA national soccer in Florida.

The venue will be the

• IMG Academy Stadium (pictured)
• IMG Soccer Stadium
• IMG Soccer Complex Field #2
• IMG Soccer Complex Field #11

There will be 4 groups of 6 teams and 2 groups of 5 teams. Only the top team from each group will advance. The USA are in Group A and their toughest 2 opponents will be TandT and Suriname.

if the USA can get a better record these small Caribbean nations (Suriname excluded) They will advance to the qualification stage.

Qualification Stage
IF we believe, which i do. The USA will advance and I will assume for arguments sake all the favorites advance. Then the qualification stage will feature USA, Houston and Costa Rica. This will be the much more difficult group.

The other group will have Mexico, Panama (Canada possibly), El Salvador (Guatemala possibly).


I believe the USA should at least make the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Sure they could falter once in the qualification round but still should make second place and play the playoff for 3rd place and at leasst win this.

Sure this is high expectations however the USA have a great deal of dept, they are playing at home and they have qualified for the U20 World Cup 15 out of 21 tries. They have also qualified 10 of the last 11 U=2- World Cups. The year they didn't qualify was

Mexico has qualified 16 and Honduras 16 times.
