This will be the 13th edition of the Gold Cup. Mexico has won 6, The USA won 5 and Canada has won one in 2000. There is another heavy weight now to consider in Costa Rica. Costa Rica surprisingly won their Group consisting of Italy, England and Uruguay in this last world Cup. They then advanced in the knockout round by beating Greece before eventually losing to Netherlands in a penalty shootout. They are CONCACAF's top ranked team right now and rightly so. 
Costa Rica will be glad they are not playing inthe states in the winter. In the World Cup qualifying they had to play the yanks in this snow storm.
Costa Rica also participated in the Central American Cup. This competition started the years the Gold Cup did and now placed the top 4 teams in the Gold Cup. Costa Rica has won and astonishing 8 Central American Cup of 13. They have been in every final except one. They are the titans of Central America.
Mexico has won 6 Gold Cups and will be a favorite to advance to the finals once again. Mexico always plays in the biggest stadiums and always have the most fans.
The USA will again host the Gold Cup and as we know every home team has a huge advantage. Klinsmann again will have his troops play an aggressive attacking style which will make them fun to watch. Landon Donovan will be retires so look for new faces to emerge here.
Panama has been growing slowly but now have emerged as the second best in Central America. They won the Central American Cup in 2009 and were runners up in 2007. Panama was in the Central American 2014 group with Costa Rica. The tied Costa Rica 2-2 however Costa Rica was able to play the final since they had a Goal differential better than Panama. Panama has also reached the final of the Gold Cup twice. Once in 2005 and again in the last Gold Cup 2013. The last Gold Cup 2013 they beat Mexico twice 2-1 to advance to the finals.
