CONCACAF update

Well Mexico will represent CONCACAF in the Confederations Cup 2017 and rightly so. Mexico has proven that they are kings in CONCACAF. The have won the Gold Cup 3 of the last 4 tournaments. Then they completely outplayed their biggest rival USA 3-2 on the USA soil.

USA is starting to question everything now and they need to find someone to replace Landon Donovan. Donovan dominated the 2013 Gold Cup...period. He produces.....sure USA has good players but their is not fluidity to their game compared to Mexico. The USA has an easy 4th round group of Guatemala, Trinidad and Tobago and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Klinsmann will play youngsters against these minnows and gain confidence as this cycle continues.

Canada can very close to qualify for the U23 Olympics---which would have been great for Canada soccer. Canada is qualifying in a group with Mexico, Honduras and El Salvador. This will be the most interesting group if nations beat Mexico and things tighten up. Canada played a good Gold Cup only losing one game 0-1 to Jamaica. The problem was they ties the other 2 against Costa Rica and El Salvador. Canada again did not make the knockout phase. Canada badly need more competitive games.

Copa America is on thank God! This will be a 16 nation tournament in 2016. This will do great to create interest in the game with Messi, Neymar and Suarez playing in the states.

USA needs this tournament after failing to get the World Cup in 2018 or 2022 in a corruption filled bribery bidding process.

2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup starts today in Chile. USA, Mexico, Honduras and Costa Rica are our reps.
