UNCAF Nations Cup changes it's name

The Central American soccer nations have changes the name of the UNCAF Nations Cup. The new name will be the Central American Cup. This is a much better name for this tournament since most people will know by the Title what it is. It is the bi-annual Championship of the Central American Nations.

The draw will be Sept 2nd, 2010 in the Intercontinental Mirama, Panama City. Costa Rica has dominated this tournament since 1991. They have been in every Championship games (except one) and have won 6 Titles. Honduras won 2 titles back to back in 1993 and 1995. Guatemala and Panama each ahve won one title. This tournament has gotten very competative. The top 5 teams automatically qualify for the regional CONCACAF tournament called the Gold Cup. Panama is the current Champion and are one of the favorites.

Panama will be playing in their newly refurbished Rommell Stadium. This will be Panama's first big game in their national stadium. Panama will not want to miss out on the valuable experience of playing in the Gold Cup 2011. The Gold Cup will get all 12 teams ready for qualifing for 2013 FiFA World Cup.

Every nation wants to place a team in the regional tournament. It alos provides great exposure to their domestic league if the national team does well.
